From the front, your website looks fine. People can find your pages, read your blog and sign up for your emails.
But behind it? You’re not so sure.Â
Maybe someone else built it and you never really learned how it works. Maybe you built it yourself years ago and kept adding to it. Either way, you have a feeling something isn’t right, you just don’t know how to fix it.
What if you break the whole thing? Where do you even start?Â
And that’s the hardest place to be in.Â
The Website Tech Audit gives you the picture you’re missing. We go through your entire WordPress website, behind the scenes and from the front, and tell you in plain language what we found and what we’d recommend. Nothing gets changed on your site without you knowing exactly what’s in front of you. You get the full picture so that you can make an informed decision without worrying about what you may accidentally break.Â
If you nodded along to one or more of these, that’s okay. It doesn’t mean you did something wrong. The websites we look at usually belong to people who are good at what they do, and whose websites ran for years without anyone telling them to check what had piled up.
So, let us get to the bottom of it and give you a clear picture of what’s going on.
Most website problems don’t announce themselves with sirens and alarm bells. Your site keeps working, more or less, while small things pile up behind it. And before you know it, that small thing grows into a much bigger problem. After all, you can’t fix something if you don’t know it exists.
Here’s the kind of thing we find:
None of this means your website is a lost cause. Most sites just need a good tidy-up, but sometimes a rebuild really is the better option, and if that’s the case for yours, we’ll tell you honestly.
Websites are built on all sorts of platforms, and each one has its own quirks.
We’ve chosen to focus on WordPress because that’s the platform we know best. That means we can concentrate on what we do well and give you advice that’s specific to your website, rather than a load of generic advice that may not apply to you.
Is your website built on another platform?
This particular audit is just for WordPress websites. If you’re not sure what yours is built on, just get in touch and we’ll help you figure it out.
No, the audit only looks. We don’t update, remove or change anything, so your website stays exactly as it is. If you’d like us to do the clean-up afterwards, that only happens after your yes, and we always make a full backup first.
An admin user in your WordPress website. After you buy, you will get an email from us with the steps to create one. You can remove it again whenever you like after we’re done.
Yes. Our reports are written in plain language, and when we use a technical term, we explain what it means for you. It starts with a short summary, so you know the most important things straight away.
That’s up to you. Some things you can fix yourself, and the report tells you how. For anything you’d rather hand over, we can do the clean-up for you, and the report includes a time estimate for each step. Or you can do a mix of both.
Then this particular audit isn’t for you. If your website runs through a different platform, please get in touch so that we can see how we can help.
No, the audit covers your WordPress website itself. Your domain, your hosting account, and the email that comes with your domain fall outside it.
Then Tech Hours is probably a better fit. Book a free connection call, and we’ll work out together what you need.
The audit is a written report. Sometimes we find something that’s easier to show than to explain, and then we’ll record a short video for you, but generally speaking, our reports are only text. If you’d like a call after receiving the report, you can book a Pick My Brain session.
